29 Responses to Comic 611 – “Skipping Out”

    • Given how much I have to do before I move in a few weeks, I wasn’t sure I would make it for the podcast either. πŸ™

But I feel bad not having something. πŸ™

  1. I heard about D&E from Lore. She played some of the cd for me in December… and I think it was January when I first checked out the site and read the comic. πŸ™‚

  2. Creative writing society at university -> NaNoWriMo -> NaNoToons -> NaNoMusical -> Errol’s NaNoWriMo parody songs all in the first week or two of November 2012. I then listened to the musical and the parody songs on repeat for most of November, and started to investigate your other stuff in the last week or so of November when I had made my initial word count goal, failed at staying on pace for my revised goal and didn’t really want to write any more. I remember spending a few evenings in late November listening to the CD songs and reading all the comics from the beginning.

  3. I heard about D&E when Leah Bobet decided she would introduce me to Debs and Errol via Twitter because we all played geeky music. The rest…is history. Or possibly geometry.

  4. I didn’t so much hear about Debs and Errol. I went to a Monkeyman Theatre show and they were playing (actually, it was their first gig ever! They had JUST formed as a band). That was when Errol had that terrible cold that took away his voice. I remember thinking he sounded like someone who would NORMALLY have an excellent voice. I was correct :D. They were both still hilarious and awesome though. I didn’t know it was their first gig, the t-shirts and personalities made me think they’d been together for a year.

  5. NaNoWriMo –> NaNoToons –> NaNoMusical –> WeTangent –> Debs and Errol
I think that p4a video factored into this somehow. I think it made me check out Debs and Errol even more.

  6. For me I heard about NaNoWriMo through my other main forums- then during my second year I saw a link to Model of a Wrimo individual on the NaNoWriMo site… I didn’t put two and two together at the time, probably because I was busy writing, but I clicked on seeing the NaNoWriMo night video the following year- and that brought me to this site at the end of November 2011.

  7. My first year of NaNo I came across some different nano videos some of which were Errol’s which eventually led me here

  8. Last year in October, I was gearing up for NaNoWriMo. I hadn’t done it since 2009, and I hadn’t seen the NaNoToons before, so I checked them out. They were doing the storyline leading up to the beginning of November, and I remember trying to figure out what the clock on the wall said. Then the first episode of the musical came out, and it was the first I’d heard of it at all. I became instantly enamored, and over the rest of the month found almost all of the Errol-involved videos about NaNoWriMo on YouTube (including Elmer the Muse). Eventually I followed a link to the Debs & Errol site. I was very intimidated by it. I read the comic now and then during November, when I thought about it, and then in December, I went back to the beginning to read through all of the comics. I don’t know why, but I felt like until I was caught up, I couldn’t really be part of the community.

      • Well, I noticed it, but I couldn’t tell what it said. When I saw the beginning of the first episode, though, I immediately went, “Oh, that’s what was on that clock!”

      • Is that supposed to make sense? Are cherubs intimidating? I’m confused. I bet you do that a lot too, confusing people.

      • Is that a Cherub in the colloquial sense or the straight out of the old testament biblical sense- because if you were drawing these cherubs straight from the bible, that would make some bizarre sort of sense…

  9. Can I be the cool hipster d-bag who knew the band before everyone else…even before they were a band? πŸ˜›

    • No you may not be that person πŸ˜‰

Oh all right, go ahead- but don’t be too obnoxious about it…

  10. I found out about you guys through Nanowrimo -> Nanotoons (and musical) -> D&E comic. It was AFTER that, I watched your guys vids and music. πŸ˜€

  11. So…. Grandma has a news show on and they were interviewing someone…. she was talking about two senators, names the first, paused, then said “and senator Kelly” and paused again, to figure out how to pronounce Kelly’s last name, cause that was a first, but all I heard was Senator Kelly. My heart stopped for a moment and I turned to stare at the TV….
