Errol: My friend, Kari Maaren, has a webcomic called “West of Bathurst“. It ended yesterday after seven years. This comic is for her.

  1. This comic made me cry. Your claims not to have empathy are continually questioned by me.

Hugs to Kari! Having dealt with many post-show depressions myself, I know how hard it is to see something go, ESPECIALLY when it’s been 7 years of it. I hope you treat yourself to awesomeness over the next few days!

  2. I wonder if Errol takes pride in knowing how many heart strings he’s yanking today. I think I would have been better off NOT knowing the reference, thank you.

This situation hits home for me too. About a year and a half ago, I had made the decision to completely let die a project I had been working on, off and on, in various capacities, for 8 years. It was a very emotional time, and I wasn’t sure I would be able to get past it to start on the new project I thought I should be moving on to. One huge difference is I didn’t have very much to show for my work, and it was very difficult to explain to anyone why I felt like I was mourning the characters and story world I was losing.

      • Too bad, Errol: you Caused Emotions. You’re just going to have to live with that. For the record, this may be your sweetest, tear-jerking-est comic ever (admittedly, you generally don’t go in for that sort of thing).

  3. WoB will be missed. I am looking forward to your new project when you are ready to put it out. You are awesome, Kari.

  4. Aw Kari, hugs from me. And you’ll be all right, don’t worry. As the old saying goes “Change may be painful but eventually you’ll grow to love the colour of your new kidneys”.

  5. I just want to know what the title of Errol’s book in this strip was (between imperfect colour contrast and small typeface, I can’t read it with the screen size I have)
