Comic 18 – “Yak & Walrus”

and a fish too!

Debs: Ooo, it’s my favourite number! I think this is my favourite weekend comic yet! Yes, there have only been 3, but still. I had so much fun drawing the animals that I am willing to overlook the fact that Errol chose to make me a yak. That’s not nice at all, Errol – I picked cool animals for you!

Errol: What are you TALKING about? Yaks are cool! It’s a YAK! LOOK HOW COOL IT IS! Good grief. What’s wrong with you??

Debs: Yaks are not cooler than fish.

Errol: Yaks are awesome.

Debs: They are not cooler than fish or walruses!

Errol: Remember Leather Goddesses of Phobos? The Text Adventure from Infocom? Ya. They had yaks. Well, one yak. And rubber hosing. Uh… don’t look that up.

Debs: They are not cooler than fish or walruses! Nothing is cooler than a walrus.

Errol: Narhwals.

Debs: Except narwhals.

  1. It’s 7AM on a Saturday and I’m looking up Leather Goddesses of Phobos. Sigh, I seriously need a life…

  2. I actually had a copy of LGoP and played it for hours, trying to find all the dirty stuff unsuccessfully. It came with a scratch ‘n sniff card so you could smell all the crazy crap in the game. It mostly just smelled like a rotten tomato.

    • I didn’t have the comic part which was needed for one of the puzzles. So where you had to solve the crypted code, I had to figure it out on my own. I remember writing a simple (or maybe I found it) cipher substitution program in Basic so that I could see the different iterations, but I couldn’t find any real words. But then I saw “spaceenk”. That made me think, “Hey, that almost looks like a word, but isn’t”. Then I realized after a few minutes that it was “kneecaps” backwards, and was able to make it through that maze…

      I love text games…

  3. This above is the essence of why we call Errol a geek….

(You know, I think I have a vague memory of discussing your discovery of kneecaps…)

I don’t know what a gravatar is….. no, stop, Errol. I seriously don’t want to know.

  4. A walrus, without either a carpenter or oysters, just seems hollow somehow. 😉 Fun comic, nevertheless . (=
